PROGRAM MANAGER


Chris Lupton, M.S.
Photo of Chris LuptonChristine holds a M.S. in Continuing & Vocational Education and a M.S. in Recreation Administration. She manages the annual Transforming Teaching Through Technology initiative for DoIT. She is a former Faculty Associate in Continuing and Vocational Education and Recreation Resources Management at the UW-Madison. Prior to her teaching and advising roles, she managed an international folk arts center, an international education conference, a residential summer camp program, and the training department for a private sector business. She is a qualified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator administrator, and consults with campus groups, technical schools, private industry, and the federal government on workplace issues. She is currently writing her dissertation on an experiential learning-based instructional design model that she developed. She also advises the campus Adventure & Environmental Education Club.

 

PROJECT ASSISTANTS


Chris Blakesley

Chris Blakesley is a Ph.D. student of Educational Communications and Technology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He earned his M.A. in instructional technology at Utah State University in 2006. His B.A. in media arts was finished at Brigham Young University in 2004.

His emphases are in narrative studies, interactive media, and instructional design. At Engage Chris works on the design teams of higher education simulations and games. He is also on the ARIS project, which is a web-based platform for mobile media learning experiences.

Jasun Carr

In addition to being a Project Assistant with the Engage program, Jasun is currently a Ph.D. student in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. He received a B.S. in Communication Processes with an emphasis in Electronic Media from UW-Green Bay, and completed a Masters’ in Electronic Media at Kutztown University. Outside of academia, his work history includes stints in television news production and as a Teaching Assistant/Television Producer.

Skills:

1. Development of promotional materials, articles, exemplars and user documentation.
2. Video and audio production – consumer, prosumer and professional video cameras and audio equipment, lighting and post-production (editing, visual effects, compression/delivery).
3. Experiment/survey design and implementation.
4. Website maintenance and content creation.

“I grew up in Madison and, after being elsewhere for the last 6 years, I have to admit it’s wonderful to be back. In the little free time I have outside of work, school and research groups I enjoy cycling, hiking, music (listening, not playing), cooking and wine making.”

Sarah Chu

Sarah is a Ph.D. student in Educational Communications and Technology in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Her current academic interests are centered on virtual worlds, visual culture, and education, and she is part of the Games, Learning, and Society research group. Before coming to UW-Madison, she supported and trained faculty members in the use of learning technologies at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada while pursuing her M.Ed. at York University. Sarah makes use of her experience in web design and development as well as in using various multimedia editing software in her roles as the webmaster and graphic design project assistant at Engage.

Elizabeth Harris

Kevin Harris

Kevin examines the intersection between games and learning as a masters student at the UW-Madison's educational technology program and member of the Games+Learning+Society group. He joined Engage in 2008.

Living abroad in Japan for three years and his background in Computer Science (B.S., Oregon State University) led to a research interest exploring games for second/foreign language acquisition, particularly for Japanese language learners. Other academic interests include the learning practices surrounding collectible card games, place-based instruction with mobile technologies, and interactive fiction.
