One-on-One with Student-Writers: A Simulator for New Instructors

In phase III, we will create five simulations to teach new writing tutors, TAs, and faculty to lead one-on-one conferences with student-writers. Each semester hundreds of instructors on our campus confer with students about their papers-in-progress. Although this increasingly common type of teaching involves a complex array of skills, few instructors receive the kind of training that simulations provide. The simulations we plan to create extend the capabilities of Case-Scenario Builder. We also will develop an authoring version of CSB that other instructors here and around the country can use to create their own simulations.
